The project Accessible election for people with disability put in place by Fondation Kana and supported by SightSavers has implicated a good number of persons in handicap situations and handicapped persons during the first phase. For the second phase which consisted of involving these same persons, bringing them to the understanding that they were going to vote and observe elections as citizens are expected to.

So it was a question of training almost 100 handicapped persons as Observators for elections and this training was to last for 2 days in collaboration with experts in electoral questioning. The training had to be backed with objectives to accomplish all the above. The Sensitization was carried out through audio, visual and the voice of the Press.

These persons were thus able to register, vote, and even observe the election day. This educational program for citizenship helped us understanding how possible it was to involve persons in handicap situations and living with all sorts of challenges, in the electoral process all that concerns civil responsibility.
